Kisaragi Saya appears to lead a peaceful life as a schoolgirl in a quiet town, spending time with her friends and enjoying meals at the neighboring cafe. Her circle includes Yuka, the twins Nono and Nene, a class representative who seems to like her, and Tokizane, a mysterious boy who is always late to school. At home, Saya lives with her widowed father, and the cafe is run by Fumito, a skilled chef and family friend. But Saya’s tranquil days hide a dangerous duty: she wields a mystical sword to protect the town from the Old Ones, monsters that eat people. As she faces them, Saya begins to suspect that she does not understand the full truth about these creatures.
