In a near-future Japan where the extraordinary is part of everyday life, high school students Takagi and Kanemura navigate a society that has changed in unexpected ways. New technologies include necklaces that blur faces, devices that control sleep, and gum flavored like complete meals, while services offer to restore lost memories or let the dead continue their lives online in virtual reality. The girls take encounters with androids, strange monsters, and aliens largely in stride. Their experiences capture a fantastical slice of everyday life, where technology and society may transform, but people remain much the same.
