Getter Robo

Ryoma Nagare, Hayato Jin, and Professor Saotome pilot three combat jets that combine into Getter Robo, Earth’s first defense against the Dinosaur Empire. The reptile-like humanoids of this civilization evolved from dinosaurs that roamed the planet millions of years ago. The jets can join in three different ways, creating Getter-1 for aerial combat, Getter-2 for land battles, or Getter-3 for undersea conflicts. Professor Saotome assembles the machines, which let the pilots adapt their giant robot to different conditions. The concept of separate vehicles combining into a super robot was considered during the creation of Mazinger Z, but was set aside before being developed for Getter Robo.
