Hataraki Man
Working Man

Hataraki Man follows Matsukata Hiroko, a 28-year-old single woman and editor at the weekly magazine JIDAI, through stories about working people. She often clashes with Tanaka Kunio, a novice editor whose mistakes add to the stress of her demanding job. Colleagues call Hiroko a “masculine woman” because of her intense devotion to work. She smokes and works too much, and has no sex life. When a story needs to be finished, she enters “Working Man” mode: her testosterone rises, she works three times as fast, and thoughts of life’s necessities fade away.
