Heart no A

Heart no A is a collection of three short stories about school life, competition, and sport. In “Ace of Hearts,” Jaguars pitcher Akizuki Akira cannot defeat the Elephants’ star, Edajima. Sakura Misao joins the Jaguars, but Akira quits when he resents being outshone by a girl. Misao leaves to avoid causing trouble, then joins the Elephants, setting up a final showdown. In “Teens,” Wakamatsu Jirou becomes a school legend after accidentally helping capture a dangerous criminal on the morning of his first day at a new school. Rumoured to be the first defense against the delinquents, he has no idea how to fight. In “Fresh Leaves in the Wind,” Class 5 hopes to win a girls’ softball tournament, but school idol Yamazaki Misa is on Class 2’s team, and even the boys in Class 5 refuse to cheer for them. Perceptive but unathletic student Mizutani Hiroshi offers to coach them.
