Kanata and his friend Tokiji are ordinary teenagers in modern Japan, until a series of mysterious deaths begins in their city. The victims’ heads transform into animal faces and explode, and rumors spread about the strange incidents. When one such event takes place at Kanata’s school, he becomes involved and gains the ability to remove his limiter, greatly enhancing one of his abilities. But using it causes another ability to go out of control. Kanata and Tokiji then encounter Shiki, a mysterious woman in a black, skin-tight combat suit, who draws them deeper into the incidents. As they seek to understand what is happening, a world-spanning conspiracy begins to emerge.
