Shouwa Genroku Rakugo Shinjuu

After leaving prison, Yotaro heads straight to the storyteller Yakumo, captivated by his performance of “Shinigami” and determined to become his apprentice. Though Yakumo has never taken on a student before, he accepts the eager newcomer and gives him the name Yotaro. As Yotaro settles into his new life, he meets Konatsu, Yakumo’s ward and the daughter of a celebrated storyteller. Yakumo took her in after her father’s tragic death. Konatsu cherishes her father’s art and wants to perform rakugo herself, but women are not permitted to follow that path.
