In the quiet town of Seize, five girls guard a fortress and fill the air with brass music as the world slowly declines after a long war. People are disappearing from the town, and fish have vanished from the sea. Among the girls is Kanata Kumika, a 15-year-old who fulfills her dream of enlisting. In this subdued future, the fortress and its young guards form the center of life in a world marked by loss.
