Toukyou Lastochika

In Meiji-era Tokyo, a young maid and a viscount’s heir are drawn together across the boundaries of birth and social status. Tsumura Hana loses her mother and takes responsibility for her young brother, leading her to enter the service of the Arima family. There, Hana meets Arima Mitsuyuki, the family’s young head, and their encounter dramatically changes the course of her life. As Japan stands at the end of the Meiji era in 1910, Hana is caught up in the changes sweeping through the capital and the world around her. She wonders whether she will see the same scenery again the following year.
