Waltz in A White Dress

At the start of the 20th century, Koto dreams of making dresses in a Japan wary of foreign influence. Fascinated by Western clothing and new ways of life, she hopes to become a tailor and create dresses for women of every culture. But as a woman, she expects marriage to end that dream and require her to live as a respectable noblewoman. Koto is betrothed to Masaomi Kidoin, the younger son of one of Japan’s oldest and most powerful families. On the day she learns of the engagement, she attends a ball at the British Embassy and meets Sagitto, a half-English, half-Indian spy who captures her heart and imagination. With both British and Japanese forces hunting Sagitto, Koto must face the dangers surrounding their love and the life she is expected to lead.
