Why Are There Goblins and Orcs in Space?

At 55, early-retired civil servant Zen Jinguji is suddenly transported from a quiet camping trip into a vast galactic civilization populated by goblins, orcs, and other alien races. Zen has left his government job to enjoy a carefree life, but his solitary routine has brought him neither complaints nor complete satisfaction. While camping alone in Yamanashi Prefecture, he looks up at the Milky Way, visible far from the city lights, and reflects on being alone in the world. Then a blinding light surrounds him, and he finds himself among the stars, where he somehow teams up with a dog-like companion.
