Sakamichi Onoda enters high school hoping to find fellow anime fans, but the school’s anime club has been disbanded. To bring it back, he sets out to find four students willing to join. Since childhood, Onoda has ridden his bulky mamachari to Akihabara each week to browse or buy otaku goods. Freshman and road cyclist Shunsuke Imaizumi spots him riding up a steep road, while fellow freshman Shokichi Naruko meets him in Akihabara and is impressed by his cycling. After learning they attend the same school, Naruko and Imaizumi urge Onoda to join the bicycle racing club, leaving him to decide whether to take up the invitation.
