Am I the Daughter?

Hailynn returns to age eight just before she is adopted by a devil-like count, after spending her previous life confined to a hut and dying without knowing what she did wrong. Desperate to escape the fate awaiting her, she curses God and throws herself from the carriage bound for the count’s estate. On the road, she meets Duke Vincent Kalisto, a revered figure of the holy country. Vincent says Hailynn is of noble blood: she is the first daughter born to the Kalisto ducal household in a thousand years. Though she believed herself an orphan, she may be his daughter. Vincent, who has never approved of a woman and insists he has done nothing that could father a child, denies being her father. As the empire and holy country begin to move, Hailynn and Vincent face the mystery of her birth in a clumsy, affectionate story about a first-time father and daughter.
