Hatsuse Nanao struggles to make friends because she can see ghosts and demons that other people cannot. When rumors and whispers follow her into high school, she skips classes and meets a strange boy at a park who knows her name and insists on spending the day with her. Nanao is trying to discover who the boy is when her class representative, Yatou Kaname, finds them and offers them a place to stay for the night. As she searches for answers, she also wonders why Yatou so strongly rejects the idea of spirits and demons. The explanations lie in both Nanao’s past and Yatou’s.
