Blade of the Immortal

Manji, an immortal swordsman, seeks a way to end his eternal life and the violence that has defined it. Tired of the deaths he has caused, he proposes to the witch who cursed him that he will kill one thousand evil men—one for each good person he has killed—so he can regain his mortality. She accepts, and Manji sets out to fulfill the bargain. Along the way, he meets Rin, a young girl whose family was slaughtered by members of a sword school. She seeks vengeance against them, and she and Manji travel together in pursuit of their separate aims and some measure of peace. Their journey is marked by varied enemies and constant attacks, as both struggle not to be consumed by revenge.
