More than a decade before the main story, professional bodyguard Yukichi Fukuzawa meets Ranpo Edogawa, a brilliant but arrogant young prodigy. Though reluctant at first, Fukuzawa takes Ranpo under his care. Their first mission brings them to a local theater to investigate a strange death threat. The case puts Ranpo’s intellect and Fukuzawa’s expertise to the test. What follows inspires Fukuzawa to establish the Armed Detective Agency, which takes on dangerous cases beyond the police’s reach.
