Butsu Zone

Sennju, an emissary of the buddha Kannon, arrives in the human world to find and protect the reincarnation of the buddha Mirokou. He reaches Earth just in time to rescue a young girl from a group of rough-looking men, but her identity—and whether she will believe that he is a buddha sent by Kannon—remain uncertain. The volume also includes three one-shots, among them “Death Zero” and “Itako no Anna.” In “Death Zero,” a pilot killed during World War II still has a promise to keep. In “Itako no Anna,” Anna, a spirit-calling priestess learning her craft from her grandmother, encounters a temple master arguing with a sword collector about removing a sword from the temple. Anna and her grandmother decide to summon the sword’s original owner to help the master.
