The Sohma family hides a secret: its members are possessed by spirits of the Chinese Zodiac and transform into their Zodiac animals when hugged by someone of the opposite sex. Orphaned high school freshman Tohru Honda finds herself living with the family, where she takes care of the household chores in exchange for lodging. Grateful for the Sohmas’ generosity, Tohru approaches her new situation with humility. As she spends more time with them, the family comes to see how much of a blessing she is in their lives.
