Fullmetal Alchemist
Ongoing Released: 2001
After their mother dies, brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric attempt to use alchemy to bring her back, despite its rule that gaining something requires an equal sacrifice. The ritual goes wrong: Edward loses a leg, and Alphonse loses his entire body. Edward gives up an arm to bind Alphonse’s soul to a suit of armor. With mechanical automail limbs, Edward becomes a State Alchemist and searches for the legendary Philosopher’s Stone, hoping it can restore both brothers.
