Shimazaki Sanpo loves the mountains and calls himself a mountain man. Living in the Japanese Alps, he volunteers with a rescue team, searching for people who are lost or injured—and sometimes for those who have died. The mountains can be beautiful, but they are also dangerous. Sanpo’s work brings him into the harsh realities of rescuing people in this striking, perilous landscape.
