At an elite school for the wealthy, gambler Tomu Shirasagi challenges the students to a series of matches, claiming he will bring the institution to ruin. A mysterious transfer from a public school, Tomu keeps his reasons for coming—and his true motives—hidden as he faces the school’s privileged students with an array of psychological and physical tricks. The matches bring him into contact with Mika Shishidou, the intelligent but haughty headmaster’s granddaughter, and Abidani, the sadistic, vampiric-looking dorm superintendent who wants Tomu gone—or dead. Tomu’s methods are revealed at the end of each contest, and the story also follows the characters’ interactions as more of Tomu’s past emerges and events take unpredictable turns.
