Ginga Densetsu Riki

Riki, the runt son of Shiro and Yamabuki, grows up separated from both parents and strives to become strong. When Yamabuki’s owner takes her home but refuses to take Riki, the lonely pup sets out to find his mother. A pack of dogs attacks him, and he escapes by falling into a river, where Shiro rescues him without realizing Riki is his son. Before leaving, Shiro urges him to be strong, giving Riki a goal to pursue. On his way to see Yamabuki, Riki finds the child Daisuke injured after a truck sends him over a roadside railing. Riki fights off the same pack that attacked him to protect the boy. Later, he follows Gohei and Shiro as they set out to confront the bear Akakabuto. Riki witnesses the battle, in which Gohei wounds the bear and Shiro falls from a cliff, setting the stage for the events of Ginga Nagareboshi Gin.
