Hakuouki Junrenka

Chizuru travels to Kyoto to find her missing father and is taken in by the Shinsengumi after an encounter with people transformed into monsters. Her father developed the ochimizu, a formula intended to strengthen the Shinsengumi that grants extraordinary strength and healing but eventually turns its users into blood-hungry creatures. As Chizuru meets members of the group, including Hijikata Toshizo and Okita Soshi, both men take the formula while trying to protect her. Hijikata is left suffering its effects, while Okita turns to it when his terminal cancer keeps him from defending himself and Chizuru. Feeling responsible, Chizuru must overcome her helplessness and find the courage to support the Shinsengumi as she continues searching for her father.
