Hyakkaou Private Academy trains the children of the wealthy to compete through gambling rather than academics or athletics. There, winners enjoy high status, while losers face harsh consequences. When Yumeko Jabami enrolls, her bold approach to gambling challenges the students’ ideas of what it means to be a high roller. The academy’s contests put skill at reading opponents and striking deals at the center of its unusual curriculum.
