After being judged an unskilled fighter, Royle spends 15 years serving alone as a gatekeeper. When an automated magical surveillance device replaces his job, he is fired. During those years, he has passed the time imagining himself as the hero of adventure stories. While traveling to another town, Royle meets Diz, a saint, and discovers that the powerful original magic he used in his fantasies can work in the real world. With magical power that has reached 9999 but little ability to communicate, he sets out to become an adventurer and prove himself unmatched.
