A world on the brink of death depends on dreams, and two groups, the Blanches and Noires, compete to gather them. Every six months, the group with fewer dreams must send some of its members to the human world, where they will eventually die. Heki, a Blanche, fights to stay ahead in the contest and keep his friends from being sent away again.
