Opium

In 1946, Dr. Maria Arden returns to Choseon, the country where she was born, as a medical advisor to the U.S. Army. Brilliant and beautiful, she finds herself a stranger in a land marked by war and corruption. There, Maria meets Dr. Kyeongju Lee, an alluring and mysterious woman shunned by society. Their innocent flirtation grows into a forbidden love affair as an illegal opium trade threatens Choseon’s fragile stability. Both women are outsiders drawn to each other, but everything is a lie.
