Peleliu: Guernica of Paradise

During the months-long, high-casualty Battle of Peleliu, Japanese soldiers face the daily realities of fighting on the island. Tamaru, a young soldier who dreams of returning home to become a manga artist, imagines Peleliu as a wild paradise that could someday inspire one of his stories. His comrades are less hopeful about what lies ahead. Most believe the more likely outcome is that they will never leave the island alive.
