In 2019, childhood friends Yashio Kaito and Senomiya Akiho are the only members of their high school robotics club, which has lost its funding. As they enter their final year, Akiho is determined to finish the giant robot her older sister Misaki began building in the club. Kaito has little interest in robotics and would rather play his favorite game, Kill Ballad Online, but he stays in the club because of his friendship with Akiho. After Kaito is accused of cheating in the game, Akiho decides to put the club’s continued existence at risk in exchange for the funding she needs to complete her sister’s robot.
