Fourteen-year-old Eriko is left to care for her younger brother Daigo after their parents disappear. Their absence becomes central to the story as Eriko tries to make sense of what has happened to them. Her parents have somehow been transported to an alternate world, yet they are still able to send cryptic messages to Earth through mobile phones. The story is told from Eriko’s point of view as she and Daigo deal with their parents’ disappearance and the strange messages they receive.
