Seisenki Elna Saga

In Gimrey, a princess born without magic is drawn into a war that her kingdom has begun. Elna is the only person able to touch the sacred sword that protects the land, making her a weapon her rulers use to threaten other nations with destruction. Gimrey’s magic comes from an ancient calamity: a creature from the north ravaged the world with its mysterious winds until a knight struck it down and planted a holy sword on the mountain where they fought. The creature’s wounds continued to release the wind, and the sword shields part of the land from it. When an enemy kingdom’s assassination plot reveals plans to replace Elna with a lookalike if she is killed, her would-be assassin helps her set out to define herself and stop the approaching war. The story draws on Nordic mythology and medieval Northern European settings.
