Seiichiro Watari, a high school student who believes life is as bitter as coffee, tries to keep his days quiet, practical, and moderate. Because of certain circumstances, he lives and works at a traditional coffee shop owned by the family of an acquaintance, hoping to finish school without causing trouble. One day, Seiichiro learns that his classmate, Sumika Sumikano, has feelings for him. He cannot simply accept them: Sumika is the only daughter of the family whose home and coffee shop shelter him, and she lives under the same roof, almost like family. As their feelings quietly build through the winter, the two awkward young people navigate their relationship in the cozy coffee shop.
