Trainee priest Bilinda Baker arrives in the remote Cornish town of Tredregyn, where her new colleagues are as unwelcoming as the rugged coastline. She soon befriends Maggie Warren, a lively local whose unorthodox beliefs include working at the Church of Satan. As Bilinda and Maggie navigate supernatural events in their sleepy seaside parish, they try to make sense of the housekeeper’s troubles and Reverend Penrose’s constant weariness. With their very different worldviews, the two women must work out where they stand in a conflict between good, evil, and everything in between.
