The East Wind of the Altas

After peasant girl Claire causes Marquess Balt Morenheitz to kill his favorite horse while saving her life, the people of Genevu’s custom of repaying every debt puts her in his power. She owes Balt a night in his bed, but he demands more and brings Claire and her family to live at his palace so she can serve him whenever he wishes. Claire may be able to repay him in ways he never expects, because she is not the simple peasant girl she seems. As Balt becomes caught up in the empire’s political turmoil, Claire’s true identity may determine whether he succeeds or falls. Whatever happens, she intends to settle her debt before she leaves.
