After the imperial family is destroyed in a treasonous scheme, the seventh princess, Evenrose, dies by swallowing poison. She awakens eight years in the past, before the third emperor’s successor is officially chosen, with a chance to change the events that led to her family’s downfall. Evenrose plans to secure the succession by winning over the emperor. To do so, she writes her own account of Michael, the Homunculus king and the monster held in the public prison, and decides she needs him. She hopes to gain his support and protect the imperial family, but whether she can do both remains uncertain.
