The Ruler Of Darkness

Born beneath the Star of a Thousand Deaths, he is fated to bring bloodshed wherever he goes, but refuses to draw his sword in an effort to spare the mortal world. Though he knows what is coming, he turns away—and pays for it when his clan is destroyed and his family slaughtered. At death’s edge, he concludes that heaven does not punish the wicked, cause and effect are illusions, and judgment is only a comfort the weak imagine. A forbidden scripture born from the resentment of humanity, heaven, and earth then appears before him. He swallows the darkness and returns as a being of shadow, determined to judge the world himself and punish its sins.
