Tonkaradani Monogatari

Tonkaradani Monogatari tells the history of a valley and the animals who live there through several stories. In “The Golden Scale,” a boy goes fishing to earn enough money to buy good bread for his mother. He finds a golden fish that offers him a scale capable of granting any wish in return for being spared. He wishes for delicious bread and returns home with it, then wonders what another scale might bring. In “The Devil Invites Himself to the Ball,” the fox of Danube, leader of the revolutionary army, infiltrates a ball with a plan in mind. His identity and his connection to Lily are left as questions.
