Tripitaka Toriniku

Kaka, a girl with extraordinary strength and combat skills, feels responsible for protecting her kind but frail caretaker, the young priest Genjou-sama, who once saved her from a tiger. When poisoned water endangers their village, Genjou-sama travels to the capital to seek a cure. While he is away, demons destroy the village and turn the people Kaka was guarding into monkeys. Kaka sets out to find Genjou-sama, but discovers that a powerful, arrogant spirit is using the priest’s body as a vessel. The spirit reveals that the human Emperor has secretly been replaced by the Demon King, and promises to return Genjou-sama’s body and retrieve his soul from the underworld if Kaka accompanies him to the capital and their plan succeeds. Kaka must decide whether to accept the risk.
