A collision with an immense ice asteroid turns Venus into a habitable world, where rival colonial powers prepare for war. In 2083, Ishtar and Aphrodia face each other across a contested frontier, with Ishtar seeking Aphrodia’s rich resources. Ishtar’s military plans to lead its assault with the Octopus, a powerful supertank. Unable to match Ishtar’s industrial strength directly, Aphrodia relies on the Hound, a high-performance antitank battle cycle built to outmaneuver tanks and attack their weak points. As war looms, Aphrodia’s fate rests with Ken Falkirk, a daredevil motorcycle rider described as suicidal.
